Design & Layout

The layout centers around a large 24′ x 22′ main deck area, providing ample space for outdoor living, dining, and entertaining. At the top of the deck, smaller 4′ sections create visual definition and help break up the space while maintaining a cohesive design.

The staircase and landing are positioned to provide easy backyard access, while the railing system maintains open sightlines to the surrounding trees. The addition of a privacy screen enhances usability by creating a more secluded outdoor environment without sacrificing the overall openness of the space.

Construction Approach

This project was built with long-term performance in mind. The framing system uses pressure-treated lumber with joists spaced at 12 inches on center, creating a solid foundation that minimizes movement and enhances the feel underfoot.

The elevated structure required a carefully planned support system, ensuring stability across the entire deck. From the substructure to the finished surface, every component was installed with precision to deliver both strength and longevity.

Materials & Finishes

Deckorators Saltwater composite decking was selected for its durability, low maintenance, and clean appearance. The Dark Slate picture frame adds contrast and definition, especially around the perimeter and stair areas.

Trex Signature aluminum railings in black provide a modern finish while maintaining safety and unobstructed views. Together, these materials create a cohesive look that complements the home’s exterior and the natural surroundings.

The Finished Result

The completed deck transforms the backyard into a functional outdoor living space that is both practical and visually appealing. The elevated design maximizes usable space, while the materials ensure the homeowners can enjoy their deck without the ongoing maintenance of traditional wood.

This Fire Fox project is a great example of how thoughtful design, quality materials, and expert construction come together to create a deck built to last.
