Trex Composite Deck Resurfacing – Brighton Lake Village, Brighton MI

Project Overview

At Titan Decks, we help homeowners transform aging outdoor spaces into clean, functional environments built for everyday living. This featured project in Brighton Lake Village in Brighton shows how a well-planned resurfacing can completely redefine both the look and usability of a deck.

The original structure provided a solid foundation, making it an ideal candidate for resurfacing. By replacing the decking, fascia, and railing system, we delivered a modern, low-maintenance outdoor space without the need for a full rebuild.

This new design features Trex Enhance Naturals decking in Toasted Sand, paired with a Coastal Bluff picture frame and matching fascia. The contrast adds definition to the layout while creating a clean, finished appearance from every angle.

The layout naturally creates two distinct outdoor living areas. A dedicated dining space sits near the home, while the main platform functions as a comfortable lounge area for relaxing and entertaining. The open design keeps everything connected while still giving each space its own purpose.

Finished with black Trex Signature aluminum railing, the deck offers strong visual contrast while maintaining open sightlines to the surrounding yard. Combined with the existing landscaping, the space feels fully integrated into the property.

Design Highlights

This project stands out for how efficiently the space is used. Instead of a single open platform, the layout creates purpose-driven zones that improve how the deck functions day to day.

The Coastal Bluff picture frame adds just enough contrast to define the perimeter without overpowering the main decking color. This detail ties the entire design together and gives the deck a polished, intentional look.

The black Trex Signature railing complements the darker accent tones while keeping views open to the yard. This helps maintain a spacious feel even within a defined footprint.

Resurfacing Benefits

For many homeowners, resurfacing is the most efficient way to upgrade an outdoor space. In this case, the existing framing allowed for a full visual transformation without the cost and timeline of a complete rebuild.

By upgrading to Trex composite materials, this deck now offers long-term durability with minimal maintenance. There’s no need for staining or sealing, and the materials are designed to perform through Michigan’s freeze-thaw cycles.

Why This Deck Works

This Brighton project is a great example of how thoughtful design and material selection can completely elevate an outdoor space.

  • The two-zone layout improves functionality
  • The color combination creates a clean, modern aesthetic
  • The low-maintenance materials ensure long-term performance
  • The resurfacing approach maximizes value from the existing structure

Bi-Level Trex Deck in Greenfield Shores, Brighton – Upper Level

Project Overview

This project was designed as a multi-phase outdoor living transformation for a home in the Greenfield Shores subdivision of Brighton, Michigan. The first phase involved replacing the existing deck with a larger and structurally stronger upper deck that better complements the home and property.

The new upper deck spans nearly the entire width of the home, creating generous space for outdoor seating, gatherings, and everyday enjoyment. The elevated design takes advantage of the natural slope of the yard, offering views of the surrounding wooded landscape that is common throughout many Livingston County properties.

The structure was also engineered to support a second phase of construction that will add additional outdoor living space below.

Project Scope

• Construction of the new upper deck platform
• Installation of pressure-treated structural framing
• Installation of 6×6 structural support posts
• Joists installed at 12 inches on center for enhanced strength and composite decking performance
• Installation of Trex composite decking
• Installation of Trex Signature black aluminum railings

Railings

Trex Signature Railings
Color: Black Aluminum

The black aluminum railing system adds a modern architectural look while maintaining open views of the surrounding yard and landscape.

Design Highlights

The deck was designed to create a large, open outdoor living space while preparing the structure for a future lower deck addition.

The upper deck spans approximately 40 feet across the rear of the home, providing a spacious area ideal for entertaining, dining, and relaxing outdoors.

Additional deck sections extend the usable space and create a natural flow across the outdoor living area. The combination of Trex Honey Grove decking and black aluminum railings creates a clean, contemporary appearance that complements the home’s exterior.

The use of tighter joist spacing and strong structural framing ensures a solid feel underfoot while supporting the long-term performance of the composite decking system.

Future Phase

The next phase of this project will introduce a lower deck level, expanding the outdoor living space and adding a hot-tub drop-down area shown in the project plans. When complete, the two-level design will create a versatile outdoor environment ideal for entertaining and everyday use.
